Explore the French countryside in comfort and style with a private wine tasting tour in Nice. Visit the highlights of the Old Town, such as the Cathedral of Sainte-Reparata, and stop at three wineries along the way to taste the best wines the region has to offer. This private tour can be tailored to your schedule and interests.
The tour can start at a time convenient for you, but we recommend starting at 9 am
Promenade des Anglais
The tour begins with a drive along the famous Promenade des Anglais, a famous boulevard along the Baie des Anges, between Nice Côte d'Azur Airport and the port of Lympia. It is surrounded by prestigious hotels, including the magnificent Negresco, a true pearl of Belle Époque architecture. For more than half a century, this boulevard has been a favorite place for walking and, more recently, for jogging, cycling and rollerblading.
Orthodox Council
Our first stop is at St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, the largest Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe, opened in 1912 to serve the large Russian community that had settled in Nice by the end of the 19th century.
Chateau de Crema.
Shortly after, you will leave Nice and head to the hilly region of the Bellay vineyards, with its central point being the real medieval castle of Château de Créma. This place is reminiscent of the Roman times, and it was the Romans who started growing grapes in this area. Since then, the same wine cellars have been storing many large barrels of wine, kept at the perfect temperature. An English-speaking guide will explain the production of wine, and at the end you will enjoy a celebratory wine tasting (additional charge). You will also learn the unknown history of the place’s connections with Coco Chanel herself… a truly French experience.
Sainte-JeanetteAfter about 20 minutes of driving, you will find yourself in a real rural winery - Sainte-Jeanette. The owner will tell you about the process of wine production and proper storage, as well as how some wines are transformed into stronger drinks. There will also be local art on display, making the experience unforgettable - especially if you decide to try the drinks on offer (additional cost).
Old Nice.
On the way back we will stop at the entrance to the Old Town, on the lively Place Massena, next to the statue of Apollo. From there you will enjoy a walk through the heart of Old Nice.
Saleya's Course
Be sure to visit places like the Cours Saleya, an incredible flower market that turns into a Mediterranean food court in the evening, and the surrounding baroque streets near the opera house, reflected in Matisse's paintings, still proudly conveying the atmosphere of the Napoleonic era.
Saint Reparata
A few steps away you will see Nice's Cathedral Sainte-Reparata, built in the 17th century, and hear the story of the mythical martyr, patroness of the cathedral. Then the magnificent embodiment of Nice's neoclassical heritage - the Palais de Justice and the square with its charming fountain and souvenir boutiques around it, will attract your full attention.
Castle Hill
From the Old Town we will take you to Castle Hill - a place overlooking the city and the Bay of Angels, which attracts tourists with its stunning waterfall and old Jewish cemetery.
Simiers
You will then enter the historical part of Nice, called Cimiez.
At the end, our guide will take you back to the place where you met at the beginning.
