The tour can start at a time convenient for you, but we recommend starting at 9 am or 1 pm.
Saint-Maxime
We head straight to the prestigious seaside resort of Sainte-Maxime, a journey of about 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will find yourself in an old town with colourful facades and cobbled alleys, where you can take refuge from the sun that beats down on the nearby beaches. The lively pedestrian centre is full of shaded squares, refreshing fountains and morning markets rich in fresh produce. The Simon Lorient Promenade offers beautiful views of Saint-Tropez. Sainte-Maxime also has a rich architectural heritage, with many villas built between the 1920s and 1940s.
Saint-Tropez
Then you will go to the cozy port of Saint-Tropez, overlooked by the recognizable fortress. The city became popular thanks to artists who chose it as a resort during their summer stay in Europe. The city was discovered by artists, and now this city owes its worldwide fame to cinematography. It was also the birthplace of one of France's most famous sailors - Buffon Souffrene (1729-1788).
Then you will have the opportunity to visit the Fortress of Saint-Tropez. For over 400 years, this fortress has guarded the city. For several centuries, it was the most important defensive bastion between Antibes and Toulon. Walking along its well-preserved streets, you will admire the beautiful view of the Gulf of Sainte-Maxime and the sea, and you will be able to watch the peacocks that roam freely on the lawns.
The House of Butterflies (Maison des Papillons) is definitely worth a visit. At the end of a typical alley in the old town is a villa belonging to the family of photographer J.-H. Lartigue and his son Dany, an artist and entomologist who has amassed a collection of 4,500 butterflies from all over the world.
Stroll through the picturesque surroundings of the old town of Saint-Tropez, have a cup of coffee on one of the shady terraces, and in your free time you can go shopping in the numerous boutiques and shops.
If you prefer, you can stop for lunch in Saint-Tropez or any other town along the way.
Your guide will then take you back to Nice.
